Effectively preventing fire from penetrating through theroof eliminates updrafts, both limiting the potential for firespreading on the roof surface and reducing the generation offlying brands. Adding gypsum board to roof systems alsoinhibits the spread of fire within an attic while protectingagainst burning brands from fires originating in another unitor from burning vegetation.
